Easy Vintage Inspired Halloween Costumes

October 27, 2017

Dressing up for Halloween is always fun, but adding a unique vintage flare to your costume is even better. We've compiled a list of easy and cool vintage inspired Halloween costumes for you to try out this Weekend and on Tuesday.

Margot Tannenbaum

Margot is a character from the classic quirky Wes Anderson film The Royal  Tenenbaums. She has impecable style and is known for her preppy chic look. Find a vintage fur coat and pair it with a striped or solid light blue dress underneath and some loafers and you're set. Don't forget a pink barett and dark eyeliner to complete your costume.

Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn is a style icon in her own right and her simple sophisticated look makes for an easy Halloween costume. You could go for the classic Breakfast at Tiffany's outfit with a long black dress, black gloves and a string of pearls and other sparkly jewelry. Or you could simply what all black and wear a scarf around your neck. Either way you can never go wrong with this costume because it's a solid classic.

Bonnie and Clyde

The perfect couples costume and coincidently a vintage dream. For Bonnie, go with a camel colored short sleeve sweater and a brown knee length skirt. Accessorize with a neck scarf and a tan colored beret. If your man wants to go as Clyde all he has to do is grab a vintage suit, possibly pinstriped, and add a brown fedora along with a a tie of his choosing. To step up your costume game, each of you should carry a small fake pistol.

Diana Ross

Diana is the queen of all things glitz and glamour and makes for a fun sparkly Halloween costume. All you need is a silver sequined or sparkly dress and you're good to go.  Accessorize with sparkly jewelry and cover yourself in glitter so you really shine. Hold a mic as a prop if you want to add an extra element to your costume.

Duckie

The obvious go to character from Pretty in Pink to dress up as would be Andie but I have to say I'm much more intrigued by her best friend Duckie. Duckie has the coolest sense of style which makes for a very fun Halloween costume. For the costume you will need a boxy vintage blazer, with a vest and button up underneath. Simple black pants should work along with a pair of sneakers. The accessories are key here so don't forget a bowler hat, black round sunglasses, and a bolo tie. We won't leave out Andie, so if you'd like to be her instead or do this costume with a friend, find a hot pink vintage dress from the 80's or go for her more casual look with a long floral knit dress over a pink top with a blazer and bowler hat with a scarf tied around it.

Sandy

Everyone knows and loves the movie Grease Sandy is an obvious must have on this list. This costume is easy and sexy without being scandalous which I really like. All you need is a black body suit and black leather pants along with a black biker leather jacket. The only accessories you really need are hoop earrings and a black belt with a gold buckle. Complete your look by curling your hair and putting on some red hot lipstick.

Hilary Banks

Hilary is the stylish oldest sister on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, a tv show from the 90s. She is obsessed with fashion which shows in her style. Go for a classic Hilary look and find a vintage suit set from the 90s along with a hat. Pair with knee high boots and vintage accessories that coordinate with your costume.

Courtney Love

Courtney Love famously known as rock legend Kurt Cobain's wife (and possibly his killer but we won't get into that) is the perfect 90's punk rocker costume. Go for a slip dress, fishnet stockings, and a vintage leopard or fur coat.Make sure you hair is messy and your make up is dark. Accessorize with a chocker and add a tiara for good measure.
